Natalie Clarke
Teacher / Choreographer

Natalie has loved dance ever since she attended her first ballet class at the age of five years old. She has realised her dream of becoming a professional ballet dancer with a successful international performing career spanning sixteen years, dancing with Singapore Dance Theatre and West Australian Ballet.

Her passion has led her to continue on her dance journey. After retiring from the stage, Natalie taught full time for a year at School Of The Arts before travelling to London to study the Royal Academy of Dance’s Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma. Graduating with distinction and gaining registered teacher status, she travelled to Finland where she was invited to be a guest teacher at the Finnish National Ballet School. She returned to Singapore to continue teaching at SOTA and later became a part-time lecture at La Salle College of the Arts for the Dance and Musical Theatre programs.

Natalie started training as a younger dancer in Ballet, Jazz and Tap at the Donna Halloran School of Dance in Sydney, Australia when she was five years old. In her teens, she moved to Melbourne to study ballet full time at the National Theatre Ballet School before being accepted into the world class Australian Ballet School. Graduating with an Advanced Diploma in Dance, she was quickly offered the opportunity to work for Singapore Dance Theatre under the direction of Goh Soo Kim and Anthony Then, where she spent seven and a half years dancing her way up to soloist and lead roles in the classical, neo-classical and contemporary repertoire of SDT. She participated in the Seventh Asia Pacific International Ballet Competition in Tokyo, Japan and won 5th Prize. Wanting to dance in her home country she auditioned for the West Australian Ballet and was offered a contract with Ted Brandsen as the director and later Simon Dow. She spent two and a half fruitful years working with highly regarded local and international choreographers and teachers. Returning to Singapore and Singapore Dance Theatre, she has danced the principal roles of well-loved classics and performed world famous contemporary choreographers works.

Natalie is excited to share her knowledge and provide a fun, nurturing environment to guide aspiring young dancers to achieve their personal best. She is thrilled leading the ballet program at Jitterbugs Swingapore®, as well as continuing to develop the Pre Program and Body Conditioning classes.

“Dance is my passion in life. It is my privilege to pass on the joy of dance to aspiring young dancers."
