What is Salsa On 1?
Salsa is a spicy dance style that evolved from a fusion of Latin and Afro Carribean dances. It is a social dance comprising mainly of partnerwork but with some solo elements known as shines.
When danced to a wide variety of catchy mid-to-high tempo music of the same name, Salsa dances can range from being fast and dynamic to being slow and sensual.
Salsa On 1 is the Los Angeles style, danced on 1, in a slot. The two essential elements of this dance are the forward/backward basic, and the cross-body lead. This is the most commonly danced form of Salsa in Singapore.

SS 1 and 2 are 6-week courses of 1.5hr classes.
SS 3 consists of 4-week courses of 1hr 15min classes.
Salsa 1 (6-week course)
Our Salsa 1 courses are structured 6-week classes (1.5hr per week) that cover the fundamentals of Salsa dancing. At the end of the 6 weeks, you should be able to dance Salsa socially.
Dance experience is not expected or required in this class - you can take this class if you've never danced in your life before. Or you can take it as a refresher course, if you've learnt Salsa "somewhere, sometime ago".
You can come alone or bring your friends with you, but you do not need to bring a partner. In our classes, to emphasize the social aspect of the dance, we'll rotate partners frequently, so that you will be able to salsa with anybody and everybody.
Salsa 2 (2 x 6-week courses)
Our Salsa 2 classes are 6-week courses (1.5hr per week) with 2 syllabi that focuses on the LA Slot Style (also known as the Cross Body Style), LA [A] and [B], which means that you can do both syllabi A and B concurrently in 6 weeks, or you can finish the 2 syllabi over 16 weeks.
Salsa 2 builds on Salsa 1, by consolidating the fundamentals you learnt in Salsa 1 (or elsewhere). Our objective in Salsa 2 is to expand your Salsa moves vocabulary, and to introduce you to the different techniques, concepts and aspects of Salsa dancing. At the end of the 2 courses of Salsa 2 classes, you should be quite comfortable dancing socially.
Like Salsa 1, you don't need to bring a partner, but Salsa experience at the level of Salsa 1 is a must.
Salsa 3 (4-week courses)
Salsa 3 students are expected to be comfortable with all the shines and variations that we have taught in Level 2 classes, ie completion of both Salsa 2 Syllabi are expected - we will not teach these in Level 3. Instead, we build on the Level 2 patterns and add more complex variations and styling.
Salsa 4 (On-going - by audition only)
Salsa 4 classes focus on technique and trickier variations with multiple turns as the norm. Dancing on different counts will also be introduced. Students at this level should be comfortable with lead and follow techniques, styling and musicality.
Please remember:
1. We would love everyone to be in Level 4! We want to offer constructive comments to help you improve. But we can only do so if you also want the same thing and are ready to work for it.
2. It's ok to be a 'recreational dancer' who is happy with just enjoying each dance. (As long you don't injure your partner or fellow dancers!) Improving your skills as a dancer in any dance form just requires practice and effort.
